meaning: The stars and the trees bow down ˹in submission˺.

As above, so below is the cornerstone principle in metaphysics. There exist structural imperatives in connection with the above ontological inspiration.

Time is associated with matter, with the ageing process of death of living things and decay and transformation of non-living things. 

Time allows for material transformation, of physical change. 

Before time existed, space existed. Length or distance therefore existed before time.

Ontologically, space preceded time. There was a time when matter too did not exist. 

Ontologically, space preceded matter as well. We now have the initial setting: space preceded time as well as matter, which has mass and occupies space. 

That which exists before the existence of time was infinite energy of the Intellect.

Now the Intellect was alone, lonely and yearned companionship. 

The Intellect planned.. The realm of the immutable is to be governed by the laws of geometry. In contrast, the realm of manifestation is to be governed by the laws of physics.

Therefore, all phenomena in the universe involves two faces: the immutable face and the manifested face. These two faces do not face each other. Nay, the face away from each other.

As the architect of the universe, the Intellect used principles of geometry. Geometry exists independently of time. Geometry is immutable and exists independently of time and matter. The Pythagorean tree is shown below. It is constructed from geometric figures. Adam “fell” from the spiritual world only after he was endowed with a physical body.

Allegorically, this “event” took place after Adam made the mistake of savoring from the tree against the Divine Order not to do so. Adam followed his passions, which symbolically took the form of a snake which instigated Adam.


The above shows the tree of immortality, similar to the one which Adam set his eyes on. Adam was conceived before physicality existed. We can say that this is the Tree of Knowledge - of Discernment - because without the fall, we would not be able to distinguish between the immutable geometry of the cosmos versus its fleeting physical manifestations.

Adam existed in the mind of the Infinite to be His companion. This tree preexisted Adam. Adam was conceived after this tree was conceived. This tree is a fractal. We call it the Pythagorean tree after the mathematician Pythagoras. 

Unlike trees in the forests, this tree does not decay nor does it die. Briefly, this is the Tree of Knowledge. The above shows the Pythagorean tree construction. From fairly simple geometric shapes, we can get the archetype of a tree. The picture above shows a scheme for the steps involved in the construction of a Pythagorean tree.

Knowledge - as opposed to time dependent information which is conceived by man - is immutable and does not change. Both Adam and Eve was conceived based on fractal geometry. Eve was extracted out of Adam’s rib, which is bent like the arc of a circle. Thus Eve appeared curvaceous, beautiful to Adam. Eve appeared familiar yet different from Adam. Symbolically, the fruit of the tree is the yearning of both Adam and Eve to be immortal. Both the desires of Adam and Eve desire turned to lust and both of them savored the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge.

Time is a spiral and the flow of time glides along the spiral, which is a spatial phenomenon. Time is a function of space. A spiral reflects the flow of time. Seconds, minutes, hours, days of the week, months in a year is based on cycles and the repetition of cycles. 

The spiral of time itself does not decay but the physical realm that participates in time decays and dies. Fractal geometry reflects the immutable truth is surprising ways. Fractals mentioned as trees in the Quran

There exist contexts in the Quran in which the meaning of the word "tree" make sense when interpreted symbolically other than their literal meaning. We can interpret the meaning of "trees" as fractals which are mathematical objects. The existence of mathematical objects presupposes the existence of intelligence which is concerned with beauty.
